Stonehenge Julia Set

A 150 m Julia-set seahorse in the field opposite Stonehenge — a crescent spine of great circles fringed with smaller ones, its tail curling away into dots; reportedly appearing in daylight within about 45 minutes on a busy July afternoon. Every circle here is individually digitized from the aerial record.

Construction

125 individually placed flattened circles, no two identical: a spine of large circles (up to 11.3 m radius, three tangent 'head' circles) sweeping a crescent, fringing chains of 1-4 m circles inside and outside the spine, and a tail curling through the south-east quadrant into dot-sized circles. Published counts of 149-151 include tail/fringe dots below the trace's resolution.
